And, here is the 2nd part...

small home business ideaFinding a small business idea seems like searching for a needle in a haystack. Investing in a bad one is expensive; failing to get a good one may be very costly too. But, if you Master the Art-And-Science of how to find a business idea, that in itself will be a major step forward. I don’t want to discourage you at all. I just want you to be aware and to really focus on your business creation.

Fortunately, the tools and information needed to do your searches at your fingertips and for FREE. What you need is to do your homework.

What tools Are Available to Find the Perfect Small Business Startup Idea?

1 - Use search engines to find small home business idea

  • Google Zeitgeist-I am a Google fan. For this reason I always begin with the hottest search at Google Zeitgeist. If I am targeting the US market, I’ll click on “U.S. Zeitgeist” and on Hot Trends; otherwise I’ll look at “Zeitgeist around the World”. At the present I am just looking for ideas.

If a particular topic interests me, I’ll make a note of it in my “To-Do List” on my google start page. Later on, I’ll make some deeper searches at more targeted sub-niches and at more specialized sites (more on this later).

  • Lycos Top 50 - The Lycos Top 50 of most popular search terms is another place I use. It is like Google Zeitgeist, where I review the latest trends and look for hot topics to explore further.

  • Yahoo! Buzz Index - To see the changing demand in the market I will also look at Yahoo! Buzz. The service is a comprehensive online resource for finding business ideas and niches. The Yahoo Buzz offers also a set of top 20 RSS feeds.

providing the latest updates and information on the hottest topics. Yahoo publishes also the Buzz Index Weekly Report that summarizes the top 20 searches for the week. The information appearing in the Yahoo Buzz is collected from the searches normal Web users perform at Yahoo!

2 - Visit online portals to refine your small home business idea .

Online portals are also good places where you can pick small business idea. The first place I am used to visit to look up for sub-niches is the eBay Pulse site. It contains several lists showing popular searches, stores, products, and more. These lists are a great way to see what is hot in the eBay marketplace.

What I do is select the category first using my list of topics gathered from my previous searches. I select it from the drop down menu, then look for popular searches, popular stores, popular products and most watched items. What I realized is the more I am specific with my niche selection the more success I’ll get.

eBay puts out a FREE PDF report of their hottest categories each month, available at http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/hotitems.pdf.

  • Amazon - Amazon.com is a huge online retailer that sells a huge range of tangible products such as ebooks, video, DVDs, CDs, electronic goods, etc. It’s divided into a large number of niches. There you will find huge choice of small business ideas. Each time I visit the site I make few notes of potential areas I might consider.

  • ClickBank - Finally, I’ll see what digital(intangible)products are being sold in my target niche at the ClickBank Marketplace.

ClickBank is an online mall directory and catalog of software and ebooks that can be downloaded. it is not like Amazon where they sell tangible products that have to be shipped, such as CDs, DVDs, etc… ClickBank has both a popularity rating and a gravity rating for the listed products.

ClickBank has also a daily updated list of Hot Moving products. Every day ClickBank releases a file called ClickBank Marketplace feedThe Marketplace feed is very large! It is not intended for use with a browser, but rather for use with programs that parse large amounts of XML data.” It contains more than 160,000 records.

The Marketplace feed is organized in a hierarchical way. The top level has nine main categories. The ClickBank script populates the categories on the basis of the past popularity of products. The more popular a product is, the higher in a main category it is listed. Also, each ClickBank main category has approximately nine subcategories that make finding niches ideas a snap.

If you spend a little time to make sure the niche idea you are selecting has sufficient potential market, you stand a much better chance of finding the idea or the product that has enough buyers.Chances are, the more ebooks there are written on a specific topic, the more that market spends money on those areas.

small business ides

When it comes to making money from home on the Internet, there are so many steps needed for ensuring success. Each of these steps is important and must be followed carefully in order to save time, money and get the desired results.

you can find these steps at start Internet home based business article series – it's a step-by-step instruction on how to start home based business on strong basis.

The secret to starting a home business that will succeed is to work through the entire business selection process. I can say this process is like a chain composed of a number of links. Remove one link from the chain and it will work no more!

Finding small business ideas, is locating a profitable niche market that suits your abilities, interests, and lifetime goals. And, this is one of these links that compose your chain and most of online marketers don't do it right. Coming up with the best home based business ideas is the most important issue that most of small businesses face today. If you do it right, you will be thrilled with the results.

What Is a Niche Marketing?

A niche refers to a group of people who have related concerns and interests. It is a segment of the market starving for solution in their area of concern.

The process of finding market segments that are small but with great potentially profit margins are a statistical process that has proven to be really effective. Having a good niche will turn your business around.

With a niche, you can focus on satisfying the exact needs of your market. And even more importantly you can direct your marketing to attract your definite niche group to your website or blog. You’ll then have the targeted traffic you need to buy your product or service.

The process of finding a profitable niche should starts from locating that group of people before any thing else. A lot of people make the mistake of developing their product first, and then trying to find a market for it. Of course, the process should be overturned.

Here's a great tool you cam use to locate your Internet home business. It's a decison-making tool that will help you to make important business, financial or even life-changing decisions.

How To Search For A Profitable Niche Or Small Business Startup idea?

Find a market first that spends money, then find out what they want and give it to them. It is certainly easier said than done, but there are a lot of places online where you can do your market research for free. They've done most of the work for you already. You just need to know where to go and what to do to connect all the dots.

Let me show you the process I go through when I'm trying to brainstorm for the Best Ideas Home based Business for Great Success. To stay informed and up to date, I'm always awake of tendencies and current events in the real world. I read some newspapers and magazines each day, both general and niche-specific. I watch the news and listen to the radio. I visit online forums, newsgroups, media websites and use search engines.

From time to time something that I read or heard sticks with me. I may jot down some notes; record my thoughts on my portable voice recorder; call my office voice mail and leave myself a message, etc…. Because usually when something sticks with me, or gives me pause for thought there is something about it I need to consider.

But, when I have several broad small business ideas to research or to make sure that a profitable market is available I look deeper before anything else.

Here’s how I go through the process of locating a profitable niche or a small business ideas.

When going through the process in selecting your niche keep in mind these 4 elements that define a profitable niche and make sure to gather as many information as you can for further use.

1 - High demand and low competition equals profits from your blog or website

You want a potentially growing market that has people interested in the topic. While you do want a niche market to work in, you don’t want a market so obscure only 50 people a month are searching for your product. In other words you must make sure that your niche market is big enough for you to be able to sell to it, and small enough that not a lot of businesses are targeting it.

2 - Established market

Make sure that your niche has some competitors. If there is competition then a market exists. A niche with no competition is not a profitable niche.

Trying to get into a niche to which no one else is selling is a waste of time. Instead find a niche group that already has people marketing to them. This way you know that there is money to be made when marketing to them.

3 - Find out your competitors' weakness

Fact is, no product or service is perfect, so that leaves the door open for improvement. Doesn't it? A better quality version of same product; a best customer service, more marketing expertise, a cheaper version; a more efficient service will enable you to get a big share from the market.

Can you offer a unique position that will establish your site in the field? By reviewing your competitors’ blogs and/ or websites you’ll know what you could improve.

4 – Make sure that there is money to be made

Do you want to make money? So, be sure your niche market has money to spend and a lot of it. When using search engines to search for small business ideas, pay great attention at the number of displayed ads. The more ads appear with a search result the more money is spent on it.

Also when using Keywords tools to determine the profitability of your niche or to do research on your competition will help you determine this point. Find out how much your competitors are bidding on keywords? Key phrases with high bids naturally mean there’s money to be made in the niche (more on this later).

When using search engines, don’t be afraid of the number of sites displayed in search results. 95% of online business owners are looser. If you are an expert at any thing or you have a burning desire to learn, you will succeed.

Just keep in mind, starting home based business online is simple and dirt cheap but not easy. To succeed, you need to not only believe that you can succeed, but you also have to work for your success.

How To Market Your Blog And Keep Your Readers

Some experts claim that many new blogs are created each second of the day. The sheer number of blogs makes it unlikely that others will find you unless you encourage people to visit your blog:
  • Make your blog access easy - Link from your website to your blog for easy access. Also, include your blog’s address on your business cards and letterhead, along with your email address and your web site address.

It can also be a good way to keep track of how many readers a blog has and can be a good way to add more value-added content.
  • Offer Bookmarklets - Bookmarklets allow a reader to bookmark your posts or your blog to many different bookmark and news sharing sites like del.icio.us, digg, etc. This link makes it easy for them to save and find your blog posts. Not only will it allow the initial reader to bookmark it but will also allow their network of friend to see the bookmark and follow it to your blog.
  • Offer an RSS feed from your blog - Most blog software today does this, and it allows your blog to be syndicated in other online areas and often to cell phones, increasing your exposure and creating more readers.

Measure Your Blog's Results

Just as with any other marketing strategy, once you create a blog to promote your business, you need to keep track of your results. Doing so will allow you to see how effectively your blog is working for you and also let you see what changes you need to make to create a better blog.

The first step in deciding how well your blog is working, as a marketing tool is to evaluate your blog’s effectiveness:
  • Monitor your blog stats - Keep an eye on your blog stats such as how many people view your blog, who visited your blog, from which country, where they go after they leave your blog, what pages they viewed, what keywords and/or key phrases are bringing users to your blog and from which sites and search engines your visitors came. This can help you optimize by including the right keywords in your articles or posts and target specific geographic region, and more.
  • What other websites say about your blog - A blogroll refers to the practice of linking similar blog pages from one article. Just as you will want to link to other blogs from your blog, so others may choose to offer a link to your blog. This sort of linking ensures that your blog is interesting, that your blog will rank high in search engines and attract more traffic.
  • Keep track of wins - Winning contests, reviews, and positive notices for your blog not only ensures that readers are interested in your blog, but it suggests that you are doing something well. Entering a design contests or blog contests can go one of two ways, successful or unsuccessful. It's an effective strategy to measure your blog effectiveness. If you win the contest you will get more exposure. If you lose the contest, then it indicates that you need to improve blog.
  • Look at mentions of your blog in other blogs - You should not just look at mentions of your blog in other blogs. Keep track of where your business name and blog name appears online, in forums, web pages, and in publications. What sort of publicity are you getting for your blog and your home business? Has there been a difference response to your business since you began the blog?
This will give a clear picture of the effectiveness of your efforts and identifying practical ways to improve user satisfaction.
  • Do some market research - Ask your customers where they heard of you and why they chose you. Ask your customers and readers to rate your blog. The responses may be very telling.
  • Measure your results and improve your performance - Consider your other marketing and advertising strategies. Compare the amount of time and money you spend on your marketing efforts and the results you get from each effort. Calculate your return on investment (ROI) and make adjustment.

Make Your Results Better

Once you have considered how your blog is affecting your business, you should be able to see what needs to be done. If your blog is not getting enough visitors, try advertising your blog more through online groups, emails, and links. If the response to your blog is not great, then you may need to make some changes in content and style to lure in more readers. If you find that your blog is not getting the results you want, though, make sure that you have given the blog a chance.

It takes time and hard work to build a solid loyal audience with a blog than with other forms of marketing. If you do build a regular audience, though, the promotional potential of your blog will be quite high and you can make money blogging.

Top 7 Blog Writing Tips

Blog writing tips

Blog writing is not like others forms of marketing writing. If you want to use your blog to draw customers, you need to create a blog that is casual and interesting without being too sales-oriented or too aggressive in marketing. Interestingly, the company blogs, home business blogs, small business blogs, etc… that do not promote and aggressively push their product or service often generate great benefits as readers enjoy reading the blogs more without obvious pushes to buy.

What Type of Blog Writing To Use!

To make your blog writing sparkle and to make it spark sales, do include blog style writing that readers will enjoy or find useful:
  • Write conversationally - If you want your blog visitors to be trained and remember what you write, say it conversationally, just as you might talk to a friend. Use short sentences, familiar words and contractions when you want to share information, to entertain, to teach or persuade, or tell a story. It’s important to remember that when writing content for your blog, you are writing for your website visitors, and you are not teaching English in a school. So don’t use long words. They are more difficult to read, and fewer people understand their meaning. And don’t use technical or scientific words unless the theme necessitates it.
  • Information about your home business - Including contact information, FAQs about your small business, product manuals and other information makes it easy for readers to find what they need about you, which encourage readers to refer to your blog each time they need to know about your home business career.
  • Business home idea Internet opportunity and home based Internet marketing business background - Listing ideas home business, opportunities and information about what is hot in your field of interest as well as information about the atmosphere of your home business are useful for opportunity hunters. It is also an easy way to get more readers interested in your home business.
  • Value-added content for readers - Providing useful and handy information is one of the best ways to get readers to your blog and to get readers interested in your product. Offer contests, tips, and useful articles, and you are more likely to get a regular group of readers.

Adding Style And Creative Writing blog.

Netwriting Masters Course
  • Keep it short - Like other types of online writing, blogging tends to rely on short paragraphs and small pages with links rather than big blocks of text. Also, using the active voice (“We have added a new product to our shop” rather than “A new product has been added to our shop”) is also good for developing a nicer style.
  • Let your logo do the talking - Rather than trying to promote your product or service constantly in your text, try making your text keyword-rich and value-added content promote your product aggressively. Instead, have your business logo clearly displayed on the page and mention the small business as a workplace. Your readers will still know about your business, but without feeling as though they are reading a sales pitch.
  • Stay enthusiastic - Write about what you care about and write with genuine passion. Writing dry copy just because you feel a blog is a useful marketing tool will not get you more readers or more customers.
Writing is a tedious task but rewarding experience. Writing is a skill you can learn, it takes determination and a want to keep on learning due to the sheer volume of information on the subject matter.

Writing also an exciting subject because you can always learn something new that can help you progress step by step in the direction of becoming a famous copywriter. The more you write, the more your writing will improve, the more money you make.

modern time management tipTime management is basically about being focused. The Pareto Principle also known as the '80:20 Rule' states that 80% of efforts that are not time managed or unfocused generates only 20% of the desired output. However, 80% of the desired output can be generated using only 20% of a well time managed effort. Although the ratio '80:20' is only arbitrary, it is used to put emphasis on how much is lost or how much can be gained with time management.
Some people view time management as a list of rules that involves…
  • Scheduling of appointments,
  • Goal settings,
  • Thorough planning,
  • Creating “Things To Do” lists and,
  • Prioritizing.
These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.
But there are more skills involved in time management than the core basics. Skills such as…
  • Decision making,
  • Inherent abilities,
  • Emotional intelligence and,
  • Critical thinking
These skills are also essential to your personal growth.
Management personal time involves everything you do. No matter how big and no matter how small, everything counts. Each new knowledge you acquire, each new advice you consider, each new skill you develop should be taken into consideration.

Having a balanced life-style should be the key result in having personal time management. This is the main aspect that many practitioners of personal time management fail to grasp.

  • Each and everyone of us has a peek time and a time when we slow down, these are our natural cycles. We should be able to tell when to do the difficult tasks when we are the sharpest.
  • Learn to say "No". You actually see this advice often. Heed it even if it involves saying the word to family or friends.
  • Pat yourself at the back or just reward yourself in any manner for an effective time management result.
  • Try and get the cooperation from people around you who are actually benefiting from your efforts of time management.

How to design professional site web?

work at home start up guide

To create a successful web site there is much more to take into consideration than just designing web pages. So, before starting your web site design, it is important to learn how to do it well.

Follow our specific Internet home based business creation order to start on strong basis.

Remember, the major factor in determining your success is the amount of time you take to educate yourself. Please don't take this point lightly, as it can literally mean the difference between success and failure. All what you need is here and for FREE.

Do It Yourself

I can’t lie, building a website from scratch is NOT easy and it takes a LOT of hard work. It is a real pain if you have no experience doing it! But if you're willing to take the time to learn the necessary skills, be prepared to learn A LOT.

You are the only person responsible for every aspect of your website design and maintenance. So, you’re going to need all the right tools and every bit of knowledge you gain to use them to create a website that WORKS.

Here's a brief introduction to three essential tools you'll need and want to use as a web designer

1 - HTML Editor Tools

The first tool you'll need is a good web page editor. I highly recommend that you find and stick with the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor type. These software programs will display web pages as they're being built. It’s like you are working on a word processor.
  • Soft82 is a free website were you can fin multiple website creators and html editors if you are looking for the right free software download solution for your home or your business? Here you can find all what you want.( Soft82.com - Download free and free to try software)
  • Clipart.com is the largest collection of royalty-free clipart, photos, vinyl-ready images, Web graphics, illustrations, fonts and sounds offered by subscription on the Web. (http://www.clipart.com/)
  • NeoPaint is a full featured graphics website. It's powerful, and simple enough for beginners, yet packed with powerful features and advanced softwares for businesses. (http://www.neosoftware.com/npw.html)

  • 2 - Graphics Editors

Most of websites use images to enhance their images or communicate messages even if it’s not vital. Almost all websites display icons, artwork, or photographs of some sort. You don't need to be a professional photographer to display graphics; you just need to know where to find high-quality images to edit and use as your own.

Here are a couple of good leads:

You can use the following image editors to edit images or create your own.

3 - Multimedia Editors

In addition to imagery, most websites integrate animation, sound and/or video. It's easy to get excited by these elements because they make the final production thrilling. But, when used excessively they can slow down data transfer and make a bad impression on visitors who don't have the proper equipment to handle such a rich form of media.

Use multimedia carefully only to support a website's purpose.

Use Ready Made Website Templates.

Instead of hiring a website designer to design your website, website templates make the whole process incredibly easy. In a nutshell, website templates are complete website designs minus custom content. Depending on the type of template, website owners can either…

- 1 - download, modify, and then re-upload edited templates to a server, or
- 2 - edit a template online and save changes on a remote server.

The first approach uses templates called turnkey packages while the second approach uses templates called prepackaged software solutions. Both approaches are low-cost methods of creating a website, yet they don't allow for unlimited customization.

Web site templates are very useful; most of experienced web designers use them to 'jump-start' the creation of a website. They are also a way for people to put out great looking web sites quickly with little or no knowledge of HTML and web design. Here are some of free websites templates...

Outsourcing Your Website Design.

Web design couldn't get any easier when it's outsourced to someone else. As a significant time and money saver, outsourced web site design grants access to experienced web programmers who can quickly facilitate the entire process.

The key difference between this approach and the other ways described above is that hired programmers have a lot of control over how things work. In fact, programmers are usually the folks who update and maintain the site because they're the ones who are most familiar with it.

TIP: Outsourcing can help you get a quality website online in the shortest amount of time possible unless you want to take the time to familiarize yourself with some of the ways that websites operate. Learn some basic HTML so that you can make harmless changes to your website without being completely dependent on your programmers.

Another problem with outsourcing web design is ownership. In the above approaches, the website's owner retains ownership (copyrights) to the final design, however, depending on the contract between you and your programmer, you may not own copyrights to your site at all.

Before agreeing to any type of outsourcing arrangement, make sure to read the contract and get detailed answers to what you'll get for payment such as…

- What will or could be subcontracted to another party?
- Who handles updates?
- Who keeps copyrights?

If necessary, have a lawyer review the terms of any contract before signing it.
Here are a few online outsourcing resources to start:

Outsourcing Your Website Design is very costly but you will get a professional website with the needed features.

What Makes a Great Website?

Most successful webmasters will tell you that the best website is simple and clean. So, what are the measures you should consider in order to make your site more appealing to users around the world and realize more conversions, better customer retention, and professional image?

Here is a list of issues that can be encountered in web design and the necessary action to be considered:

1 - Appearance of the pages

The design of a web site should be well-matched to any browser and be able to pass HTML and CSS validation tests.
    • Logo - Repetitive display of a company's logo helps with the branding process.
    • Navigation - The process of navigating your web site should be simple enough for all users. Use simple text links or buttons, right under the header, at the bottom of the page, at left or right side of the screen. Make sure the text labels clearly indicate what the user will find when he or she clicks on them.
    • Fonts - A consistent font helps maintain a consistent look. They are not just a matter of personal favorite of the user and the designer. The primary significance of font choice is that it affects the readability of the information being presented in the page. Times New Roman, Arial and Verdana fonts are usually recommended. Websites or pages that display several different fonts give the impression of being haphazard and unstable rather than focused and serious.
    • Color - When applying color, it is important that there is enough contrast between background and foreground in order for the content to be readable. To achieve maximum contrast, use black text against a white or light yellow, grey or blue background.
    • Business Name, Contact Information, and URL - When visitors print a page, they can readily recall where the page came from if this data is displayed on each and every page.
    • Update Dates - Dates and time that reflects when the content on a page changed can help visitors determine how fresh the content is. Fresh content is particularly important for businesses who need to convey time-sensitive materials (product availability, pricing, etc.)
    • Copyright Information. This should discourage few visitors who might want to steal exclusive material.

    2 - Content

work at home start up guide

Remember, web content should be short and straight to the point. Make your text clear and simple to understand. Keep the size of the pages small, certainly no more than 500-800 words per page and a total page size of no more than 100k. The way words are presented is almost as important as content so make sure to use…

I cannot stress this enough, CONTENT IS KING. Search engines love websites that have lots of useful information. Google, Yahoo! and MSN will rank you higher if your website has abundance of good quality keywords rich content pages. So think about what you want to say to your visitors and give then the information they want and need.

Your content is one of the main factors for search engines when they rank a web page. Check through your text and correct all grammatical and spelling errors. Otherwise it gives your website visitors a negative impression of you and the business you represent. Remember, first impression counts a lot!

3 - Availability of basic features

To maintain a consistent appearance and convey a serious business attitude, every page in a website should always display the following elements:

    • Terms and phrases that people readily understood.
    • Short sentences and phrase in the active voice. The best way to tell your reader what you want is a short, straight forward sentence. Complex sentences loaded with dependent clauses and exceptions confuse the reader.
    • Paragraphs of no more than 2 to 4 sentences each.
    • Margins and padding to adjust elements' positions and control the spacing around and within them.
    • Colored text for headlines is appealing because color is a magnet to the eye and creates a feeling of excitement.
    • Bullets to highlight key points, organize a list or draw attention to information.
    • Italics to emphasize a word or phrase. Italics are hard to read, so limit their use.
    • Bold words and phrases or underline for titles or to add emphasis.
    • All capitals only to draw attention to a heading or to make a brief statement.

    4 - Site performance

There are three factors that determine the overall performance of a web site. These are speed, tables, and connections. Since everyone is hankering for more bandwidth, so avoid the usage of design that will take up too much bandwidth, because not every user has access to fast Internet connections. To avoid making the site appear like it takes forever to download...
    • Never put a whole page inside a one table. Instead, divide the page into several tables.
    • Do not cloud your page with too much items for the simple reason that each item requires a separate browser for the whole page to be downloaded.

    The Cost Factor

work at home start up guide

Budgeting the costs for creating a website is a simple formula: "The more stuff you want on your website, the more expense that can be applied toward debugging it." The more that you can do yourself, the less expensive your costs will be. The expenses involved in designing a website may range from a simple $50 investment to a big $10,000 expense.

The following describes what could increase or decrease your website development costs:
    • Purchasing sufficient networking hardware

    • Buying appropriate website software

    • Purchasing additional computer peripherals (digital cameras, scanners, video cams, etc.)

    • Buying artwork or hiring a freelance artist to supply it

    • Hiring a computer programmer to provide Java or VB script code

    • Paying for web hosting

    • Utility bills

    • Legal fees for copyrights, trademarks, patents, etc.
Things that could affect the rate of these costs could be the decision to:
    • Rent equipment

    • Use multimedia material in the public domain

    • Purchase low-cost stock images, sounds, and video.

    • Completely outsource the entire design of a website or only outsource specific tasks.

    • Learn how to code HTML, JavaScript, VB Script, and any number of other web languages.

    • Register low-cost HTML editing shareware (or use free software)
